Break-Ins and Smash and Grab thefts
We receive hundreds of phone calls monthly due to peoples vehicles getting broken into. We call these incidents “Smash and Grabs” or “Break-Ins”. This happens mainly because thieves see something in the vehicle that looks like it is valuable and they break in. Common things left in cars that cause people to break-in are: Book Bags, BackPacks, Purses, iPads, iPods, Expensive CD Players, GPS Devices, Radar Detectors, Amplifiers, Clothing, Shoes, Golf Clubs, Sunglasses to name a few. If you have something of value the best thing to do is bring it in the house or lock it in your trunk. We have heard stories from installers where people actually will break into the car just to get into the glove compartment because they believe there is a GPS kept in there because they see the ring on the windshield but don’t see the GPS. The only way to prevent this is to wipe the ring off your windshield and hide the GPS in your glove box and lock it. It may sound crazy but some people see opportunity and are willing to break a window and grab whatever they can.
Below are some pics of some broken windows.
